What is a sustainability dashboard?
A sustainability dashboard is a live view of a company's environmental data (carbon, water, pollution, land, biodiversity, materials) built to inform a specific audience. In Spirefly, you describe the goal and the audience, and the assistant assembles a dashboard from your supply-chain data: charts plus written explanations of what each one shows, why it matters, and what to do next.
We already have Power BI and a data analyst. Why build dashboards in Spirefly?
Power BI produces the visualization; Spirefly produces the visualization plus the explanation around it. That companion text draws on your sustainability goals, your methodology, and framework knowledge such as the GHG Protocol and TNFD, which is what a board or buying team needs to act on a chart. Your analyst can still pull Spirefly data via export for separate workflows.
Our purchase volumes are commercially sensitive. Can we share a dashboard without exposing them?
Yes. You control exactly what appears. Volume data, supplier names, and cost-adjacent figures only appear if you choose to include them, so a dashboard built for a buying team can show categories and percentages while the underlying volumes stay private. You review every widget before sharing, and access can be revoked at any point.
The AI writes the explanations. What happens if one is wrong?
You review every explanation before it goes anywhere, the same way you would review a consultant's slide deck. The text is a draft, and everything in it is traceable: to a figure in your footprint, a methodology in the knowledge base, or a finding the system flagged for follow-up. You edit directly in the dashboard, and you sign off before it is shared.
We built sustainability dashboards before and nobody used them. What makes these different?
A chart on its own gets filed. Spirefly pairs every chart with a three-part explanation (what you see, why it matters to you, what to do next) written for the specific reader, so a buying team or board member understands why the finding is their problem and which action follows. That connection to the reader's own decisions is usually what earlier dashboards were missing.
Can the dashboards follow our own sustainability methodology?
Yes. Spirefly dashboards work from your footprint data, calculated with your methodology, and your company context as you defined it. If you allocate a joint venture a specific way or set scope boundaries differently from the default, you explain it once and the assistant carries it into every conversation. Where it references a framework definition (GHG Protocol, TNFD), it cites the source so you can verify the interpretation.
Do shared dashboards change when our data updates?
Yes. Shared Spirefly dashboards are live and reflect the current state of your data. For a point-in-time record (an audit, a regulatory submission, or a board pack), you export the document version at that moment: the export is a frozen record while the live dashboard keeps updating. You choose which one goes to whom.
